Learning outcomes:

As a result of participation in this session, participants will have:

  • Knowledge of Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and the Guidelines
  • Understanding of the “Chain of Survival”
  • Knowledge of the sequence of resuscitation
  • Knowledge of the ARC Flowcharts
  • Understanding of reasons for ineffective breathing and circulation
  • Ability to recognise the pre-arrest client
  • Ability to manage the initial phase of an emergency

Infection Control Training

  • Knowledge of standard & additional precautions required

Child Safe Environments

7 hour education session for up to 15 participants

Learning Outcomes

As a result of participation in this session, participants will have:

  • Understanding of how values and attitudes can impact on identifying child abuse and/or neglect
  • Recognise the difference between child-focus and adult-focus
  • Identify resistance to acknowledging and appropriately responding to child abuse and/or neglect at an individual, agency and societal level
  • Understand the essence of child-safe environments and the importance of collaborative practice
  • Identify and describe Mandated Notifiers’ responsibilities and ethical obligations
  • Identify and define the different types of abuse and/or neglect
  • Understanding of ‘suspicion on reasonable grounds’ and the effect of abuse and /or neglect has on children
  • Knowledge of the key principles for responding to children whom are at risk of harm
  • Knowledge of legal and ethical responsibilities to notify on suspicion of reasonable grounds and the Child Abuse Report Line process of recording and assessment
