Moments, Marbles & Memories
Celebrations of the launch of a new resource Moments, Marbles and Memories- stories filled with laughter, tears and tributes for those affected by dementia was held on Monday the 28th of March by Bron Marie, CEO of the Riverland Division of General Practice (RDGP). More than 60 local people involved in the development of the book attended the launch in the RDGP Training Room in Berri.
The aim of the book is to increase dementia awareness and provide a supportive resource for people affected by the disease, whether personally, as a carer, family member or friend.
It was wonderful to see so many community members and health professionals attend the official launch. The stories that people have shared are amazing and from the heart; RDGP cannot thank the contributors, students and artists enough for their brave contributions.
The play Under Her Hat, written and based on some of the stories published in Moments, Marbles and Memories, was performed by well known playwright Isabelle Danforth-Smith specifically for the promotion of the book.
Many interpretations of dementia have been represented within the book through art, including Aboriginal artist Hilda Moodoo and students from Loxton High School, St Albert’s Primary School Loxton and St Joseph’s Primary School Barmera.
The book can be purchased from the RDGP office: 3 Vaughan Court, Vaughan Terrace Berri and at Print DNA Ral Ral Avenue Renmark, for $25.00.
