What we do:

Adult Services 18 years +

The RDGP Mental Health Team provide assessment and therapeutic services to people in the Riverland and Pinnaroo who either have a diagnosed mental health condition or are at significant risk of developing a mental health condition.  This may include depression and anxiety, a woman at risk of postnatal depression or a young person facing anxiety.

The Mental Health Team all are trained mental health professionals who are specifically qualified in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).  CBT is used in conjunction with other specific therapeutic models, to work with clients to understand and manage their mental health well.

Children Services 0 – 12 years

Under Child Psychological Services, Jayne McDonough, Occupational Therapist provides therapeutic one on one counselling services to children between 0-12 years of age who are diagnosed with or at significant risk of a mental disorder or childhood behavioral or emotional disorder.

Infants and children do not require a formal diagnosis to access this service. However, observations of concerning behavior, and evidence that the child is at significant risk of developing a disorder needs to be indicated by the referring GP.

From Thursday 1 May 2014 until 30 June 2014,  Jayne will be consulting one day per week from RDGP.  The continuation of this program will depend on funding past June 30, 2014.

How to refer clients:

All clients referred to RDGP for adult mental health services require a GP Mental Health Treatment Plan (MBS item number 2715 and 2717).

All Child ATAPS referrals require a RDGP GP Referral & ATAPS Child Treatment Plan.

For clients to access more than 6 session, a GP Mental Health Treatment Plan Review (MBS Item Number 2712) is required.

All referrals must be sent to RDGP via Argus. A clinician will process the referral within 2 working days and provide the patient with an appointment time and information about RDGP services.

For headspace Berri clients complete a Community Referral Form and send to headspace Berri.

RDGP is not a crisis service and there is a short wait list for therapeutic mental health services.

The Mental Health team is funded through a variety of means including GPSA (Shared Care with GPs) and Country SA PHN (ATAPS Tiers 1 and 2 and Mental Health Care Coordination).
