Immunisation

RDGP support all 6 Riverland medical clinics, local high schools, local government and other health care services in providing immunisations to the local community.  RDGP aids in maintaining the professional development and access of current information, guidelines and training to ensure all health professionals are confident and competent in immunisation provision.

All vaccines currently available in Australia must pass stringent safety testing before being approved for use by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA).  This testing is required by law and is usually done over many years during the development of a vaccine.  Approval can take up to ten years to be achieved following large clinical trials.  The Adverse Drug Reactions Advisory Committee (ADRAC) continue to monitor the effectiveness, safety and adverse effects of a vaccine once it is in use.
